Citizens
of a country called man power if they are employed otherwise it is population.
Unfortunately, our country has population in huge amount. People in bunches
flood towards cities all over the country and causing migration from their
localities on large scale. This caused huge imbalance of distribution of
population. Villages are getting scarce of people while cities are getting over
populated day by day. Cities are therefore facing big problems on all aspects.
Housing, sanitation, transport, water, electricity etc. are some of the areas
facing big challenges in the cities.
After
independence, due to emergence of better medical facilities, there is a steep
fall in death rate whereas birth rate remained where it was. Growth in
population is the result of that. After disinvestment from nineties,
manufacturing and service sector got their way in country’s development caused indirect discouragement to
primary sector i.e. agriculture. Also secondary and tertiary sector initiate
the inflation caused irritation in the livelihood of the people engaged in
agriculture. As a result men from agriculture faced challenges for survival and
hence diverted towards cities to earn their livelihood. Government although
tried to initiate the agricultural growth through various schemes but the
condition got worsen day by day. Suicides by the hundreds of farmers is an
example of that.
Our
governments since independence I believe, failed to distribute the profits
among the citizens fairly. Corruption and big government structure may be the
reason for that. Our governments although claim has played a catalytic role in
Indian development but if you see many other country still having monarchy, the
condition of their farmers doesn't have the big difference comparing to our
farmers. So where is the development, is the matter of concern. Our government
undoubtedly has initiated many plans and schemes for the betterment of poor but
lack of determination is always visible. Knowing this, it tried to initiate the
developing process by means of work done through private players but that also
got sacrificed on corruption.
Population
undoubtedly is the biggest problem of our country in the present scenario.
Government as well as scholars believe it true as government face big
challenges on adopting new schemes related to large section of population.
Apart, it should also be noted that we have big man power to initiate those
schemes so why not treat them as citizen instead of population.
Family
planning is useless unless and until we make people understood its importance.
And that can only be possible my means of education. Therefore government
should highly concentrate on education at least up to junior level. Right to
information is although implemented, the act is full of loopholes which are totally
impractical. Now right to ‘right’
education is emerging as a new concept.
Population
control and education are sectors should be concentrated together at a time.
Controlled population for better education or better education for controlled
population will then easily be available. Commitment on the other hand is the
catalyst that is required by the government now. We hope better future for
citizens of India.
